USA TODAY has been on the cutting edge for different facets for delivering the news. I was fortunate enough to be able to work on many different projects that dabbled in the emerging tech medium. Here are a few that I worked on.
This is a cardboard VR case that I created for the VR Stories app launch. It was handed out to everyone in Gannett and USA TODAY. This was one of the first things that I had worked on outside of desktop/mobile UI.
For the release of the Moto 360 watch I wanted to port over the ability to view snippets of our stories from our Android app. The watch would simply be an extension of our app. However This really didn't work out so Instead I created a simple watch face that was released in the store. See below:
Fast Facts was USA TODAY’s first attempt at a chat bot. This idea and product came about from a mini swarm. Imagine getting into work in the morning and overhearing coworkers talk about a TV show, celebrity gossip or a current event that you know nothing about, but you want to be part of the conversation. The idea was to catch a user up on a topic that they may be unaware of within a minute or two so that they can contribute to the “water cooler” discussion. Below is the initial designs and flow.
